Pilates Classes
Pilates is a safe and effective form of low impact exercise which combines breathing with flowing body movements.
The aim of Pilates is to improve posture, balance, strength, coordination, flexibility, breathing efficiency, mind and body awareness.
Pilates helps people improve sports performance, manage long term health conditions and joint pains, rehabilitate their body post injury and postpartum and manage pregnancy related musculoskeletal issues.
Pilates was first developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates. The APPI method is evidence based and has been developed over the last 20 years by 2 Australian Physiotherapists. It consists of a repertoire of exercises which can be individually modified using varied equipment and levels of difficulty, making it ideal for rehabilitation.
I run a series of Pilates classes for all levels and abilities.
What is Physio-led Pilates?
A Physiotherapist will use their expert knowledge in anatomy, physiology, health conditions and pathologies to plan and deliver safe classes.
A Physiotherapist will carry out a health screening prior to attending the class to assess your suitability.
A Physio-led Pilates class will have smaller class sizes to allow the Physiotherapist to modify exercises and correct technique.
